Eagles Defeat Jaguars 21-10
Story by Jesse Mann, SCCLC

A fierce game between the JV Jaguar girls and the SCCLC Eagles ended with the Christian Learning Center team in firm control. After scoring the opening basket, the Jaguars fell behind the Eagles to end the first half trailing by six points. 7th grade Eagle Rebecca Escudero went on a fantastic ten point scoring streak, giving the Eagles their halftime lead over the Jaguars with a score of 10 – 4.

The Eagle offensive continued in the second half, scoring six points to the Jaguars' one in the third quarter. The Jaguar girls attempted a comeback early in the fourth quarter, quickly scoring two baskets in a row. An Eagle three pointer a couple minutes later, however, sealed the Jaguars' fate. The game ended with a score of 21 – 10 in favor of the Eagles. In summary, it could be said that the Jaguars fell victim to the Eagle's aggressive defense and relatively accurate shooting.

International’s Fabiana Zelada accounted for all of the second half Griffins' six points. The two teams battled evenly throughout the third quarter and the score was knotted at 4-4. In the fourth quarter, International girls fought offensively but they couldn’t change the course of the game. Lady Knights remained ahead 16-19 at the end of the game and gained their third victory of the season.

Kamila Riveros had six points for Cambridge and Raquel Zelada scored four, while Josefina Rodriguez and Nicole Fermin had three and two each. Fabiana Zelada scored nine points for International, while Pamila Suarez and Olivia Nauardo scored the remaining five and two, respectively.
