Boys Varsity Basketball

These are the results for last week's games, some of which were delayed until this Monday.

Eagles Overwhelm Griffins 54-17

The SCCLC Eagles Varsity boys defeated the International Griffins in a fast-paced game played on Monday at International. As the game began, onlookers could tell that neither team was "in the groove." Missed shots, bad passes, and poor ball handling plagued both teams in the first few minutes. However, both teams were soon battling for the lead. The first quarter ended 10-7 with the Eagles slightly ahead. In the second quarter, the game was very close. The Griffins came within one point of the lead before the Eagles finally started to pull away. The Eagles brought the score to 14-9 and then to 18-11, continuing to create a bigger lead. Multiple fouls from both teams slowed down an otherwise quick and aggressive game. The first half ended 27-16 with the Eagles ahead.

In the second half, the Eagles got straight to business and widened their lead to 31-17. This solitary Griffin point in the beginning of the third quarter would be their last for the game due to incredible defense by the Eagles as well as multiple missed shots. Throughout the second half, the Eagles continued to improve on offense as well as defense, but the Griffins could not advance with them. The Eagles stopped the Griffins from scoring a single point, but they still managed to stack up the points for their own team. Aggressive play from the Eagles led to a complete shut down of the Griffins. The game finally ended with a score of 54-17. Eagle standouts included Jesse Hallock, Cesar Flores, and Caleb Ropp.

Knights Beat Jaguars 39-20

After pulling ahead 19-7 at the half, the Cambridge Varsity Knights held on to win 39-20 over the Cooperative Jaguars last Thursday. The Jaguars improved their offense in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome the Knights' lead.
