Varsity Boys Basketball - March 24

Eagles Defeat Griffins 66-18

The SCCLC Varsity boys Eagles won today's game against the International Griffins in a high-scoring and fast-paced game played in the Eagle gym. The game was intense from the very beginning with the Eagles winning the jump ball and then going on to score after a series of mind-bending passes. The Eagles shot off to a 7-0 lead, and continued on to a 13-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Griffins continued to fight for the ball with many blocks and steals, but accurate passing was the key factor that put the Eagles ahead. In the second half, the Eagles continued to dominate, even after replacing many of the starters. A soaring 3-point shot by Eagle Haziel Martinez before the end of the half left the score at 32-4 with the Eagles far ahead.
The Griffins started out the second half with a 3-pointer of their own, but they could not contain the Eagles who continued to score on almost every possession. There was a noticeable improvement in the Griffins' playing, but the Eagles continued to move forward, gaining a 49-14 lead by the end of the quarter. The final quarter continued in the same fashion, and the Eagles finished the game ahead 66-18.

The Cambridge Knights grasped control over the Cooperative Jaguars in Cambridge’s home gym in an energy packed game played on Thursday afternoon. This adrenaline-pumping game was marked by consistent shooting by the Knights and started with many chances for scoring that the Jaguars failed take advantage of. During the first two quarters, the Jaguars’ defense waned as the Knights aided each other and demonstrated joint efforts against their rivals. Cambridge Knight Gabriel Alonso even delivered a great play as he managed to score splendidly after rebounding his own failed free throw.
After the third quarter the Jaguars made the statement that they were back on the game but even as they significantly raised their scores their frustration and anxiety were very apparent as the last minutes ticked off the clock. This entertaining game finished with the Jaguars defeated and the Knights triumphant with a 35-27 score in their favor.
