Eagles Dominate Jaguars 62-13
The SCCLC Eagles defeated the Cooperative Jaguars on Thursday, marking the end of an undefeated regular season for the Eagles. At the beginning of the game, the Jaguars managed to hold up a surprisingly strong defense, holding the Eagles scoreless for the first 6 minutes and scoring the first points themselves for a 2-0 lead. The game was still close at the end of the first quarter with the Eagles ahead 5-4. However, the Jaguars could not keep up with the Eagles, who pulled ahead in the second quarter, scoring 14 points while holding the Jaguars scoreless. The score was 19-4 at the half.
In the second half, the Eagles constantly substituted players to give everyone a chance to play, but their lead continued to grow. By the end of the third quarter, the Eagles were ahead 43-9. The Jaguars appeared to be exhausted in the fourth quarter, with most of their scoring attempts coming from improbable long passes. The Eagles continued their consistent scoring, and brought the score to 62-13 at the final buzzer.

Knights Defeat Griffins 35-24
By: Claudia Hennessey, CC

The Cambridge Knights took the lead on Thursday afternoon against the International Griffins in a game played in the Cambridge home gym. For a game between two teams who have played better it, was a painstaking battle in which no obvious leader arose during the first quarter. Although the International team kept up a sturdy defense through out the game, their scare tactics and their in-a-blink-of-an-eye stealing seemed to remain at that since their attempts at shooting were less than impressive. The first half ended at 15-7 for the Knights.

The second half was marked by efficient defense and assisting by the Knights that denied a chance to the Griffins for their futile efforts. As the last quarter came to an end, the International coach’s dissatisfaction had become very vocal and the Cambridge boys continued on effectively working against their frustrated opponent. Two free throws by Gabriel Alonso during the last two seconds closed the game that ended 35-24 for the victorious Knights.
The winning team’s coach, Victor Coronado, held: “It was a regular game for us, we had our ups and downs, but as the game went on we seemed to hold on steadily. The other team needs some work but it makes up for what it doesn’t have with strength and attitude”. While the Griffin’s coach Diego Lopez had to say: “We played the best we could, like we always do. We gave it all we had but of course Cambridge’s team is superior when it comes to handling the ball so, obviously, that marked the difference”.
