Eagles Beat Knights in Overtime 30-25

        A close fought match between the JV Cambridge and SCCLC boys basketball teams went into overtime today to give the Eagles their first victory of the season. The first quarter was dominated by the defense on both sides, and ended with the Eagles on top 3 – 2. Offense took over for the rest of the game, with both teams showing remarkable shooting accuracy. The Eagles made several points from inside the key, matched by an even number of Knight drives under the basket. At halftime Cambridge led the Eagles 14 – 11, but the advantage did not last. 

        Nearing the end of an incredibly fierce second half, the Eagles held a two point lead over the Knights. Then, with three seconds on the clock, Cambridge sank a miracle shot that tied the score 21 – 21. Competitive game play continued into overtime, with both teams scoring several points. In the end, a couple of well placed free throws by the Eagles put them over the top, ending the game with a score of 30 – 25. 

Jaguars Defeat Griffins 33-6

        The JV Cooperative boys basketball team continued their perfect season, beating the International Griffins easily in a game played at the Jaguar home gym. After pulling out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter, the Jaguars cruised past the Griffins and scored 12 more in the second quarter, while the Griffins only scored two. The first half ended 24-2.


        In the second half, the Jaguars slowed the pace down, scoring only 4 points in the third quarter. However, their defense stayed strong and held the Griffins to just 2. In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars once again held the Griffins to just 2 points, bringing the final score to 33-6 in the Jaguars' favor.
