Jaguar girls defeat Lady Knights 2-1
The Cooperative varsity girls volleyball team started its season with a three-set victory over Cambridge in a match played in the Jaguar gym Thursday.
The Lady Knights won the tightly contested opening set 25-22. The two teams fought evenly until the score was 15-14 in favor of Cambridge, at which point the Knights spurted ahead to a five-point lead. Cambridge led 24-19, but had a little trouble closing the door. The game featured many long rallies and intrepid retrievals by both sides, but Cambridge may have benefited from the fact that several Jaguar players were benched during the first half for skipping practice.
The Jaguars took control of the match in the second set and led 20-9 prior to winning the set 25-14. Cooperative then took the third and deciding set handily 15-5.
