Tania Landivar notches five
Jaguars overwhelm Lady Knights, 11-0
The Cooperative girls varsity soccer team continued its winning ways, dominating Cambridge 11-0 Friday on its home field.
The only criticism that might have been made of the Jaguars as they cruised through their first four games is that they were sometimes slow to get rolling.
The fixed that this time, scoring early and often to take a 6-0 halftime lead. The first half offered a dazzling display of the Jaguar girls diversity on offensive as six different players scored (more or less in the following order): Aldana Roda, Sofia Sotelo, Alexia Handal, Giovanna Varalta, Tania Landivar.
Sotelo added a second goal in the second half, but the main part of the fireworks was proded by Tania Landivar, who scored four more goals for a total of five.
The victory assured the Jaguars of coming in first in the league for a regular season, even if they lost the rest of their games, an unlikely prospect.
Cambridge had a few chances to score, but wasn't able to capitalize on any. The main thing that can be said for the Lady Knights is that they remained cheerful to the end of the game, and continued to play hard despite trailing by a widening margin.
