Eagles take Jaguars in straight sets
The Christian Learning boys varsity volleyball team decisively defeated Cooperative Friday afternoon in the Jaguars gym 2-0, though the Jaguars made them work hard for the second set.
In the first set the Eagles played precision volleyball, while Cooperative had trouble passing successfully and made too many unforced errors. The Eagles won 25-12.
In the second set the Jaguars suddenly seemed to rtediscover the science of setting up the ball and began to play more consistently, and the two teams battled more or less evenly until the closing phase of the game.
The Eagles opened a two-point advantage at 20-18 and held it -- occasionally stretching it to three points -- until the set was theirs at 25-22.
