Griffin JV bests Knights in epic match
The good news for the International junior varsity boys volleyball team is that the defeated Cambridge Saturday, securing first place for themselves, and last place for the Knights.
The even better news for the Griffins is that this means they will not have to play again against the little Knights, who have them one heluva tough time.
The Griffins sneaked through in the first set 25-23, then lost the second 25-22. The third and deciding test was the toughest of all, with the Griffins barely getting out of it alive with a 16-14 win.
Taking the three sets together, the Griffins emerged as one point better than Cambridge -- not much of a difference beteen first and last place teams.
It's unclear who International will face in Tuesday's championship game. Both Christian Learning and Cooperative have 3-3 records, and the League's mysterious tie-breaking formulae must be applied. Christian Learning has beaten International once this season.
