Eagles Vanquish Knights 26-8

The SCCLC Lady Eagles defeated the Cambridge Knights 26-8 in an exciting game played at the Eagles' gym on Thursday. The Eagles started the game off well with a 4-0 lead. Their success was partly due to excellent rebounding by Tabitha Malloy and Jessica Smith. However, play was continuously stopped on account of travelling fouls by both teams. The 1st quarter ended 6-0 with the Eagles ahead. The Knights hoped to make a comeback in the second quarter, but good defense from the Eagles forced them to make many outside shots which were missed over and over. The Knights finally broke through with a breakaway to bring the score to 8-2. There continued to be many instances of travelling which kept interrupting the smooth flow of the game. One more basket by the Knights was followed by another breakaway to bring them within 2 points of the Eagles at 8-6. The Eagles managed to score 2 free throws before the half which ended with a score of 10-6.

In the second half, the Eagles shot ahead quickly with 2 baskets bringing the score to 14-6. The Knights responded with one more basket. Sadly, this was the last of the Knights' baskets for the game. The Eagles were relentless as they continued to dominate in rebounds. Tabitha Malloy made a layup as she was fouled, resulting in  a 3 point play to end 3rd quarter at a score of 17-8. The Knights could not contain the Eagles even in the final quarter as the Eagles pulled ahead 23-8, finally winning the game with a convincing score of 26-8.
