Boys JV Basketball - Feb. 22

Jaguars Beat Knights 41-19

An explosive fourth quarter performance helped the SCCS JV boys basketball team to defeat the Cambridge Knights 41-19 at the Jaguar gym on Tuesday. The first quarter ended with a score of 9-3 for the Jaguars. Both teams scored 6 points each in the second quarter, and the first half ended 15-9 with the Jaguars on top.

In the second half, the Knights started to edge closer and closer to the Jaguars, and they managed to bring the score within 3 points at 22-19. However, the Jaguars catapulted ahead of the Knights in the fourth quarter. Led by Ian Peña, the Jaguars scored 19 points in the fourth quarter alone while preventing the Knights from scoring any. This impressive performance led to a 41-19 win for the Jaguars, preserving their undefeated record so far this season.

Griffins Conquer Eagles 18-14

The International boys junior varsity basketball team came on strong in the third quarter to defeat Christian Learning in the International gym Thursday afternoon, 18-14. The Eagles led in the first quarter 6-4. A low scoring second quarter left the score at 7-5, still in Eagles’ favor. The game looked like it could go either way in the second half.

The Junior Griffins jumped out ahead with a 5-0 scoring streak in the third quarter, leading the total score to 10-7. Daniel Hanley was the one who tallied all the five of the International points. He was very much present for the Griffins, scoring eleven points in total. In the fourth quarter the game became a war of attrition, with both teams playing very carefully. However, it did not change the course of plot, and the Griffins won 18-14.

International got eleven points from Daniel Hanley, and two from Jaime Barrenechea, Juan Velasco, and Liam Hanley. For Christian Learning, Nathan Brown and Luke Phillips contributed four points each.
