Gritty Little Eagles Strike Again!

Christian Learning
The Christian Learning junior varsity girls soccer team laid undisputed claim to first place for at least the next two weeks after a convincing 3-0 victory over International at the International field Tuesday..
League scoring leader Emily Ordoñez struck paydirt for the Little Eagles early in the first half as she pushed the ball past the goalie, and deftly left-footed the ball into the net.
Samia Dajbura added the second goal just before half time on a beautiful arcing shot over the goalie’s head.
Ordoñez notched an insurance tally midway through the second half on a breakaway down the middle.
The feisty Little Griffins did have a number of good chances at goal due to the skill of their forwards, but Eagle goalie Rebekah Kienzle was equal to the task and posted the shutout.
The outstanding defensive play of Jessi Suarez and Tamara Vargas helped keep the Griffins at bay, and sweeper back Sandi Wilcke closed the door.
The Little Eagles now get a bye week to rest up before their rematch with Cooperative, who they tied earlier in the year 2-2.
The regular season championship will be decided in that game two weeks hence when the Little Eagles and Jaguars face off in the final game of the season.
