Eagles narrowly defeat Lady Knights, 2-1

They don't get much closer than the 2-1 victory the Christiuan Learning girls varsity volleyball team eked out over Cambridge Thursday in the International gym.
Cambridge took the opening set 25-18, but Christian Learning came back to squeeze oiut a 27-25 victory in the seco0nd set. The same pattern held in the third and deciding set as the Eagles emerged on to 15-13.

Jaguars take barn-burner from Griffins, 2-1

The Cooperative girls varsity volleyball team dropped the opening set of its match against International, but then stormed back to take the next two and win a match that was packed with thrills from beginning to end. It was played in the Cooperative gym Thursday.
International took the first set by the razor-thin margin of 26-24, overcoming a four-point lead the Jaguar girls had built up in the closing stages of the game.
Cooperative played more aggressively in the second set, taking it 25-19, and then managed to keep that rhythm going in the third set, which they won 15-11.
The closeness of the match underscored how evenly matched the girls varsity volleyball teams appear to be this year. Of the four games played so far, three have gone to three sets, and the only match that was decided in straight sets -- Cooperative vs. Cambridge last week -- one of the sets was decided by a 26-24 score.
