Jaguars second half binge beats Eagles
Following a scoreless first half, the Cooperative junior varsity soccer team went on a six-goal tear in the second half to defeat Christian Learning 6-1 on the Cooperative field Thursday.
Josue Abuawad ws the main man for the Jaguars, tallying five times, varying artful and opportunistic scores. He scored once on a free kick, three times oin the attack, and once where he kicked in up a ball that had been fumbled by the goalie.
Interestingly, Abuawad did not remove his shirt after any of them. His dramatic disrobing after scoring in a previous game, which revealed a mock romantic message to the teacher who had restored his academic eligibility, had cost him a yellow card.
Team captain Rafael Sakuma added the Jaguars' sixth goal.
Richard Enns tallied near the end for the Eagles to avoid a shutout.
Jaguars Reinaldo Chavez, Sakuma, and Richard Salvatierra received yello cards during the game. There were no other penalty cards assessed.
For Griffin JV, one goal was enough
The International boys junior varsity scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over Cambridge on its home field Thursday.
The goal came about ten minutes before the game ended off the foot of Javier Barron, on a pass from Sergio Rosado.
Knights Kevin Mendez and Pablo Piovesin received yellow cards.
