Eagles Barely Overcome Griffins 13-12
Story by Sung Eun Song, SCIS
The Christian Learning Center JV girls basketball team narrowly defeated International 13-12 in the International gym Tuesday. The Eagles led 2-1 at the end of a low-scoring first quarter. International then seemed to take control of the game in the second quarter as they moved out to a 5-4 lead at the half.
However, the Eagles soon got themselves back on their feet and were able to tie the score at 8-8 by the end of the third quarter. The final quarter began and both teams fought fiercely. Finally, thanks to Sophia Santa Maria's determined shooting, the Christian Learning girls were able to gain a 13-12 lead and win the game. Rebeca Escudero and Esther Chun were Christian Learning’s main offensive weapons, with six points and five points each. For International, Pamela Suarez, Antonia Maggi and Fabiana Zelada had two, three and four points respectively.
