The Cooperative junior varsity girls soccer team eked out a close 2-1 victory over a fast-improving Cambridge team Monday afternoon on the Jaguars field.
All the scoring came in the second half, with Cooperative taking a 1-0 lead, and then Cambridge tying the game at 1-1. Cooperative went ahead on a relatively easy shot that the otherwise impressive Cambridge goalie mishandled.
Andrea Chavez and Paula Sakuma were credited with the Jaguar goals. Isadora Santos scored for the junior Lady Knights.

Griffins, Eagles deadlock 1-1
A last-second goal by eighth-grader Valeria Cordeira enabled the International junior varsity girls soccer team to salvage a 1-1 tie with Christian Learning Monday on the International field.
Emily Ordonñez had pit the Eaglettes ahead 1-0 in the first half when she took charge of a goalie kick, dibbled down field, and drilled the ball into the net with a left-footed kick that hit the upper-right corner of the goal. International then went on to win the post-game shootout for the extra point in the standings 3-2.
The two teams had fought to a similar 1-1 tie in their previous meeting this year, but in that one Christian Learning had won the shootout.
