Griffins edge Eagles in thriller, 2-1

The International boys varsity volleyball team just barely defeated Christian Learning in a three-set battle during which both teams played superb volleyball.
International took the opening set, which was fought evenly from start to finish, 25-23.

Things got truly spectacular in the second set, with most points decided on long rallies during which there might be two or three amazing plays. The Griffins got ahead early 12-4, but the Eagles then slowly sliced into that lead until they finally tied the game at 20-20, and then took the lead for the first time at 23-22.
The two teams then took turns taking the lead. There was a particularly spectacular rally to make the score 26-26 in which International returned two blazing attempted kills, before losing the point. Christian learning then took the next two points to win the set 28-26. The winning point was a sort of anticlimax. After a long rally with plenty of hard-hit balls, the winning shot was a little finesse tap just over the net that hit an open spot.

Momentum should have belonged to the Eagles at this point, but as the two teams changed sides it was the Griffins who seemed to be wearing the confident smiles. Sure enough, the Griffins quickly took charge in the third set, taking an 8-2 lead. Christian Learning's attempted kills started sailing long, while the Griffins maintained discipline and played nearly error-free ball in taking the set 15-6

Jaguars easy victors over Knights

The undefeated Cooperative boys varsity volleyball team encountered little difficulty is disposing of the winless Cambridge team in straight sets in a match played in the Jaguar gym Monday.
The Jaguars won the first set 25-15, and cruised even more easily in the second, 25-10.
