Co-operative preserves pefect season with 5-0 win
By Trevor Reed
Christian Learning
The Cooperative junior varsity boys soccer team completed its undefeated season by beating Christian Learning 5-0 on its home field Thursday.
Santiago Paz scored three times for the Jaguars, moving him to the top spot among junior varsity goal scorers. Juan Carloa Laguna scored Co-operative's two other goals.
Early in the game a Jaguar scored off of a rebound from another player, and the Jaguars would score three more times in the first half. The Eagles had a few good attempts, but Cooperative had a very good defense.
In the second half, Christian Learning started playing more like a team and their defense improved significantly. The Eagles had a near miss on a direct kick that barely went over the post, and held the Jaguar offense until the very end of the game, when the Jaguars scored their fifth goal on a long shot just minutes before the end whistle was blown.
