The Cooperative girls junior varsity volleyball team narrowly defeated International in a three-set battle at the International gym Thursday. The set scores were 25-20, 20-25, and 15-7.
Cooperative took control of the first set from its early stages. Dominique Germain made unblockable spikes using her height and Maria Paula Aguirre's passing and receiving skills were excellent. The Cooperative girls won the set 25-20.
The second set was a much tougher battle. The lead went back and forth with neither team going ahead by more than 2 points. Pamela Suarez showed outstanding play in serving and spiking which contributed to International's eventual victory in the second set, 25-20.
The momentum switched again in the third set, with Cooperative again dominating play. Germain was repeatedly set up by her teammates and no one on the International side could block her powerful spikes. In addition,  International girls made a number of  unforced errors and bad serves.
The third set ended with Cooperative winning 15-7, giving the Cooperative girls victory in the match.
