Griffin Girls Blank Eagles 2-0

Christian Learning
The International girls varsity soccer team emerged victorious in its confrontation with Christian Learning Tuesday afternoon, winning 2-0 in a game played on the International field.
Strong defense from both sides kept the score at 0-0 until Laura Maragaño finally broke through the Eagle defense and put the Griffins up 1-0.
The Eagles had a few superb corner kicks by Tabitha Malloy following the Griffin goal, but no one was able to connect for a goal. Indeed, both teams had numerous scoring opportunities, but the defenses held strong.
The Eagles knew they had to improve if they wanted to win the game back in the second half, and they tried.. The Griffins had to focus on their defense more than in the first half as the Eagles brought the ball up the field again and again, resulting in  numerous corner kicks, free kicks, and good attempts from Abby Phillips and Mariela Salinas, among others.
But then the Griffins seemed to gained momentum once again. After a corner kick from the Griffins and a few quick passes, Laura Maragaño scored once again for the Griffins, insuring the Griffin victory.
