Junior Knights romp against Griffin JV, 50-11

The Cambridge boys junior varsity boys basketball team, which hasn't lost since 2008, scored an easy win over International in their home gym Tuesday afternoon 50-11.
The Little Knights led 11-2 at the end of the first quarter, and 27-6 at the half, and continued at that pace in the second half. The score was 37-9 at the end of the third quarter and 50-11 at the end of the game.
Jose Luis Rivera was Cambridge's top scorer with 18 points, including a three-pointer, but he was not the one-man band he has been in some past Cambridge JV contests. Though Cambridge had only six players dressed for the game, they spread the scoring around, with three players hitting double figures. Gabriel Alonso gathered 16 points for the home team, and Juan Paniagua was also in double figures with 10 points. Santiago Hurtado scored four, and Alejandro Barranco had two.
For International, Daniel Hanley had five points, Jose Coloma four, and Samir Nostas two.

Eagle JV zooms past Jaguars, 42-16

The Christian Learning boys junior varsity basketball team had little difficulty disposing of a Cooperative team that seemed at times to lose discipline and cohesion in the game at the Christian learning gym Tuesday afternoon. The final score was 42-16.
The Jaguars held ranks in the first quarter, after which they were only down by four points, 10-6. The roof caved in on them in the second quarter, when they were outscored 10-0, and fell behind 20-6 at the half.
The Eagles played with fluid grace and well choreographed teamwork, while the Jaguars seemed to be fighting among themselves, with several players seeming to give up.
The Jaguars seemed to pull themselves together after the half, and played the Eagles almost even in the third quarter. However, the Eagles widened their lead by two points as they continued a steady 10-points-a-quarter pace, and led 30-14 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the Eagles add 12 more points to their score, while they held the Jaguars to 2, making the final tally 42-16.
For the victorious Eagles, both Josiah Canaviri and Cesar Flores had 14 points. Richard Enns had eight, Haziel Martinez four, and Estevan Sosa two.
For the Jaguars, Josue Abuawad had eight points, Giogio Rodrigano six, and Ezequiel Chavez 2.
